Troy (Movie Review)

The sword and sandal epic Troy is arguably the best film to ever come out of the genre. It's far superior to "Spartacus," "Ben-Hur," and "Ulysses."

While loosely based on Homer's Iliad, this film is very much its own thing. Unlike many other historical movies, it's not laden with goofy "gods" and demigods popping out of nowhere, but it still delivers plenty of action.

Plot

In ancient Greece, the passion of two legendary lovers -- Paris (Orlando Bloom) and Helen (Diane Kruger) -- ignites a war that will change the course of civilization.

Paris convinces Helen to run away with him to Troy, sparking a conflict that will devastate their civilization and spawn the legend of Achilles. The war that follows is a decade-long affair that will prove a test of the legendary hero's mettle.

At its heart is a tale of honor. When Paris and his Trojan army steal Helen of Sparta from her husband Menelaus (Brendan Gleeson), it's an affront that cannot be tolerated. Menelaus' brother, King Agamemnon (Brian Cox), sees the opportunity for glory and sets out to avenge his sister's honor.

Agamemnon assembles 1,000 ships with 50,000 Greeks to attack Troy. He is aided by a legendary warrior named Achilles (Brad Pitt), who has no allegiance to anyone or anything save his own glory.

Parents need to know that this film is a tad more violent than your average blockbuster, with a fair amount of bloodshed and graphic injuries. Additionally, there is a brief nudity scene and a virgin priestess is made available for rape as part of the spoils.

While Troy may be a bit overblown and a little short on the big picture, it's still a fun movie to watch. It's also a good reminder of the power of teamwork and the importance of honor above all else.

While it may not be the best movie ever made, Troy is worth watching for the awe-inspiring visual effects and the epic battle that unfolds. If you're a fan of historical epics, you'll definitely want to check it out!

Characters

In Ancient Greece, King Agamemnon of Mycenae unified most of the Greek kingdoms and created a loose alliance to fight for their survival. He has also been deeply enraged by the actions of a heroic warrior called Achilles. Agamemnon, however, lacks the ability to consider others and is often self-serving.

Agamemnon's brother Menelaus, King of Sparta, meets with Agamemnon and asks him to lead an expedition against Troy to avenge Menelaus' honor. After Paris abducts Helen, a queen of Menelaus's kingdom and Menelaus's wife, Agamemnon agrees.

Priam, the King of Troy, is an old man with a great spirit and courage. He slays a Trojan commander when the Achaeans arrive, and he also travels to the Achaean camp one night to ransom Hektor's body.

Thetis, the mother of Achilles, is a sea nymph and a staunch advocate of her son in his quarrel with Agamemnon. She does all she can to help him, but she is not otherwise involved in the war.

Poseidon, the younger brother of Zeus, is a strong supporter of the Achaeans. He holds a long-standing grudge against Troy and is angered by Zeus' claim to authority over him.

Peleus, Achilles' father, is the grandson of Zeus and a kindly old warrior. He raised Achilles in Phthia and is the chief supporter of the Achaeans in their quest for glory, as is Phoenix, a soothsayer who helps mediate between Agamemnon and Achilles during their quarrel.

Odysseus, another shrewd warrior, is the savior of the Trojans at their final stand against the Greeks. He also acts as a sort of mentor to Achilles, giving him the advice and strength to win his battles against the Greeks.

Agamemnon, the king of Mycenae, is an arrogant but resolute leader who provides the Achaeans with strong but reckless leadership. His tactless appropriation of Achilles' prize, the maiden Briseis, creates a crisis that ultimately forces Achilles to withdraw from the war.

Other Greek gods, including Hermes, Iris, and the nymph Thetis, support the Achaeans. They also play a role in the battle, although they do not appear in person.

Themes

Themes are a major part of any epic film and Troy is no exception. The movie’s main theme is about love. The main characters Paris (Orlando Bloom) and Helen (Diane Kruger) carry this theme very well as their forbidden love for each other causes them to start the war between Troy and Sparta.

The movie’s action set pieces are incredibly well-staged and the scenery and costumes look beautiful. This is the kind of production that looks like it took a long time to make and it really shows.

It’s a shame that this isn’t as popular as it could be, but if you have ever been interested in Homer or Greek mythology, then it’s worth checking out. The retelling of Troy is loosely based on the Iliad and though it’s different in many ways, this is still an excellent story of love and honor.

I would recommend this film for anyone who’s interested in Greek mythology or just wants to learn more about a famous battle. It’s a bit dated, and it can be a bit slow, but it’s still a great film that you won’t regret seeing.

There are a lot of different themes in the plot of Troy and each one has their own impact on the story. The main themes that are present in the movie include:

Death is a key theme in the film and there are a lot of scenes where we see the death of characters. Some of these scenes are heart-wrenching, while others are a bit more humorous. This is because death is a theme that is very relevant to modern society and it can affect people’s lives in many different ways.

Another important theme in the movie is revenge and how it plays a role in the movie. It is a common theme in movies, especially in those that deal with war. It’s often seen in movies where the heroes are trying to get back at their enemies.

However, the movie also makes sure to show us that even when you have victory, it doesn’t mean that you should be happy about it. This is because in the movie, the hero’s death was not an easy thing to accept. The movie also showed that when you lose a loved one, it can affect your life in a lot of ways.

Modernization

The Troy City School District is undergoing modernizations to nearly every building in the system. Residents voted to authorize a $56 million project that will include necessary upgrades to almost every building in the district and the purchase of an additional building.

The building modernization project reflects the district's 2015 Building Condition Survey that revealed many buildings needed immediate work. It also will allow the school district to repurpose some spaces and make some improvements without increasing the tax levy.

This project includes replacing heating and ventilation systems at School 18, making School 16 ADA compliant, renovating the Troy High School Technology Wing to allow for expanded STEM programs, and creating classroom walls at School 14. It will also include a roof replacement at Troy High School and the repurposing of pool areas at Carroll Hill and Troy Community Schools.

While the project is still in its early stages, it's a clear indication that the school district is committed to making the best use of taxpayer dollars. The renovations are a good example of the kind of changes that will benefit all students in the district.

As Director of Technical Product Management for Doosan GridTech, Troy has led the deployment of pioneering megawatt-scale battery systems and a fleet control and DER optimization software platform for Snohomish County Public Utility District and Austin Energy. He has also overseen the installation of progressive software product developments for Tesla Motors and other companies.

He believes that digital transformation is a combination of advancements in technology and culture. It's important to understand that a true transformation is not just about modernizing an existing technology, but it's about incorporating new strategies and practices within the organization that will ultimately help the agency reach stabilization.

In this case, the innovations that have the biggest impact on how an agency runs include UX Design, Agile development, Cloud, infrastructure as code, automated user and accessibility testing, product management, artificial intelligence, and automated monitoring. In addition, he believes that the most important part of a digital transformation is changing the way the organization works and how its employees think about their work.
